Field Marks

Elongated black wings with white tips. Diurnal.

   

TAXONOMY NOTE: This genus was listed as 'Melanochroia' in Hodges et al 1983 but corrected to Melanchroia in Parsons et al 1999.


Range

Southeastern. Common throughout Florida (Kimball 1965), and also present on the gulf coast of Texas (Quinn 2008). Strays are reported throughout much of the southern US.
